Anti-Gendered Violence Grant Writing

The Food is Free Solano Program has rapidly grown and has been beautifully addressing the urgent issue of food instability during this uncertain economical period. From humble beginnings as a one-woman, at-home free food stand (originating as Food is Free Benicia), to a about a dozen stands throughout the cities of Benicia and Vallejo, to a network of sourcing and distribution throughout the Bay Area.

CREATE THE MESSAGE

Resource Accessibility & Human Rights Equity

Resource Accessibility & Human Rights Equity

WAHEO's Create the Message project hopes to parallel the success of FIFS, beginning with its first awards of $500 each to two woman-owned, local, small businesses, Theresia's Tutu's AND Woman of Strength Apparel (womanofstrengthapparel.com), whose services both work to disrupt toxic social discourse and uplift marginalized individuals and groups, with one profound, and lovingly-crafted customized article of clothing at a time. Congratulations to Theresia Dalton and Neicy Richardson! WAHEO looks forward to following and sharing about your continued successes.

Resource Accessibility & Human Rights Equity

In response to the specific needs highlighted by the 2020 pandemic climate, WAHEO is growing and evolving. While protecting and supporting women and children who have experienced or are at high risk for gendered violence will always remain a core focus of our work, the intersectionality of how systems, laws, policies, and varying social climates contribute to gendered violence and inequality is undeniable and requires a multi-pronged approach.

This has led WAHEO to the pending update of its mission statement to be reframed to include utilizing grant writing, community collaborations, and grassroots efforts to advocate for Resource Accessibility & Human Rights Equity for residents of Solano County. This means we will be launching initiatives that will also include equity in education, business, basic needs, and more.
